Are you looking for a Hindi course you can use both at your computer or on your iPod, CD player or MP3 player? If so, you should consider Rosetta Stone Hindi as one of several good options you can use to learn Hindi.

Dynamic Immersion

Have you ever tried to learn a foreign language by memorizing vocabulary lists or flash cards? That is the old method of learning a language – it’s tedious and not very efficient. (not to mention mind-numbingly boring).

Rosetta Stone has pioneered a new learning method called Dynamic Immersion that allows you to see, hear, and understand the language without the concious act of memorizing or translating the Hindi vocabulary.

With this learning method, you are essentially surrounded by the language in the form of pictures, the spoken language, and the written language. This is to a large degree how children learn language – they are surrounded by it.

What About Pimsleur?

In the past, I recommended the Pimsleur Hindi program, but one thing bothered me about Pimsleur – the age of the program itself.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been the recepient of a funny look after using a greeting from Pimsleur.

Don’t get me wrong, Pimsleur is a very high-quality audio program and like me, you will probably have a really high recall-rate for the material due to the effectiveness of the Pimsleur method. But…

The out of date phrases and the ultra-formal greetings can cause some awkward situations (like when you address a young woman with the greeting for an old woman).

Learn Modern Hindi

Rosetta Stone Hindi is a more up-to-date language program.

In the past, I wasn’t a huge fan of this program because it lacked an audio component that you could take with you to immerse yourself in the language. With the addition of the audio component, I now think this is a very good program to introduce you to the Hindi language.

Do You Need to Learn Devanagari Script?

If this program has a shortcoming, it’s the lack of more instruction in written Hindi, which is known as Devanagari script. Mind you, this is the first set in the three set course and it is designed to get you up and running with conversational Hindi quickly.

3 Easy Ways to Learn Hindi Fast

This is going to sound crazy, but bear with me and I’ll explain myself.

“Learning a new language does not have to take a long time. “

If you’ve spent years studying a foreign language without really being able to speak it, then you’d probably love to throw a bucket of cold water on me for making such a claim.

We’ll let me explain how you can learn a new language like Hindi in a hurry by telling you about my trip to France.

Before my wife and I went to France for a wedding, I learned enough French to order a rental car, reserve and check into several hotels, order meals and ask for directions. It took me 5 weeks studying for about 30 minutes in the evening to get to that level of fluency. The trick is to know how to study, what to study, to use the right tools.

Here are the top three easy ways to learn Hindi in a hurry:

Get on a plane and go live in India for a while. The best way to learn a new language is to go live in a foreign culture where they speak the language you want to learn. You can live abroad and study fairly cheaply if you are willing to go without some of the creature comforts you might be used to. Of course, airline travel isn’t cheap and you risk getting sick or suffering from some serious culture shock and home sickness. This is the best way to learn, but it may not be convenient or realistic for you
The second best way to learn a foreign language, like Hindi or any other language for that matter, is to enroll in an intensive language program where you live. Unfortunately, this can get very expensive in a hurry.
The third best way to learn how to speak a new language is to find an interactive language course that covers the basic vocabulary. Research shows that approximately 80% of conversations use fewer than 1,500 words. This is what I did to learn French and you can do the same thing to learn Hindi.

If you can learn about 1,500 words of Hindi, then you will be able to speak and understand most conversations.

If you want to learn how to speak Hindi and you don’t want to travel to India or don’t want to spend a fortune with a private instructor, then you might want to check out a new course called Rocket Hindi.

Rocket Hindi is a new language program from a company called Rocket Languages Ltd. They already have a line of eight other home study language programs.

I have their Rocket German course and plan to get Rocket Hindi when it’s released in a few days and I’ll review it for you.
